Be tempted! A

TASTE OF

MATARANGI

awaits you on the

9th of April 2016. This will be the

festival’s fourth successful year

celebrating fabulous food, wine

and music by the beach.

Headlining the entertainment is

Five O’Clock Shadow, a popular

cover band from Bay of Plenty.

“The crowd enjoyed them so

much in 2013,” said organiser

Bronwyn Ririnui, “that we have

invited them back. They can really

get folks up and dancing!”

Powered acoustic guitar and

drum duo Pow Wow from Mount

Maunganui bring a fresh, dynamic

approach to popular music. Josh

Pow (vocals/guitar) and Nick

Ririnui (drums/vocals) revamp

known tunes and remix live, giving a whole new vibe and sound.

Singer songwriter Asch-Rose is a captivating singer, performing with an

unaffected purity. She draws on influences from folk, country and blues

legends such as Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash and

Neil Young. She is winning performance awards, and she will win your

heart as well. Asch-Rose’s recording “The Bootleg Sessions”, a handful

of raw acoustic originals, will be available at the performance.

Cheer your favorite local chefs in the cooking competition tents.

Stall holders will offer gourmet foods with a local flair. Just for starters,

“enjoy scallops, French cheeses and wines”, says Bronwyn, who

mentions that food vendor stalls will fill up as the day nears. “We know

that Lions Coromandel will be doing mussel fritters, and they kindly make

a donation from their stall towards the festival charity”.

Expect an intriguing collection of craft vendors, a Kids Zone with bouncy

houses, student performers Troupe Waihi, a helicopter simulator, a charity

auction, and other fun family activities.

Each year, A Taste of Matarangi festival strives to give back to charitable

causes that benefits the community. For the 2016 event the organisers

will once again be supporting the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service and

Kuaotunu Land Search & Rescue (KSAR).
