Support the supporters!
The businesses and individuals advertising in PakuViews are
participating not only to promote their businesses, but to support our community magazine – so be sure to
tell them you saw them in PakuViews. Thanks to all of them for making PakuViews possible!
We encourage you to get involved -
as advertisers, contributors, writers or artists. Email us with your
ideas. We want this to be a group project we can all be proud of - for the community, from the community.

PakuViews is
GROWING
It has been both honour and pleasure to
represent the communities surrounding
our beloved Paku mountain, namesake of
our first lifestyle magazine.
We paid tribute to our sacred mount in the
inaugural issue, as indeed, she was the
inspiration. This powerful magnet initially
attracted us to this area 6 years ago, leaving
an imprint that would entice us back 3
times until our final move 4 years ago. We
‘immigrated’ from Kona, Hawaii (where we also
published a community magazine, KonaViews,
for ten years). And we love it here.
We are fortunate to have so many devoted
entrepreneurs here in our small communities,
and they also shared our vision for PakuViews.
As the backbone of our community, we
couldn’t have produced the magazine without
these loyal advertisers.
These businesses need and rely on your
support as well, so reward them by purchasing
locally when possible. And while you’re there,
don’t forget to tell them you saw them (be it in
print or online) in PakuViews.
We have been thrilled by the enthusiastic
embrace our communities have given
PakuViews from the start. I thank everyone
who rallied in support – just know that it took
‘a whole village’ to pull this together, just as
it will take ‘a whole peninsula’ to support its
expansion.
Paku was once our holiday destination, then
our home, then our ‘masthead’ ...and now our
seed for growth.

Good things should be shared, right? Yes,
we agree and, in response to enquiries and
urging from our readers and advertisers
PakuViews is growing!
We are inching the magazine north and south
along the eastern coast of the Coromandel.
More copies, bigger territory.
The style, content and format of our much
appreciated lifestyle magazine won’t change.
We’ll still be celebrating the Coromandel and
bringing you the interesting articles we get
such good feedback about – lots of local
information from each area, eye-catching
advertisements, and the same standard of
stunning photography and works of art you say
you love so much.
However, it is right that we adapt our name to
reflect the wider distribution area we will be cov-
ering. We are still finalising the new name and
branding, so if you have any ideas – let us know!
We are also increasing our print run and the
number of pages –
more
copies in
more
places
for
more
readers to enjoy
more
reading
more
often. We can’t say MORE than that on that
topic! (Well, we might even add an issue or two
more
per year!)
We are expanding with the aim of eventually
covering the entire Coromandel Peninsula.
Over the next few issues we look forward to in-
cluding all of you in Whangamata, Hot Water &
Cooks Beach, Hahei, Whitianga and Thames.
Some great businesses from Whitianga and
surrounding communities have signed on
already, thanks to our new Sales Agent (and
talented writer/editor/proofer!), Sandra Scott.
Other supporters will also be spreading the
word around the wider district to introduce
people everywhere to the delights of our well-
loved magazine.
We can’t do this without your support, so
please spread the word. Tell others where they
can pick up an actual copy, and share
your emails on FB. (We
hope to create our own FB page soon.) Keep
us informed about matters of local inter-
est – notable charities, new businesses and
expansions, local characters, family stories
and history, old photos...all will be considered
for inclusion.
The PakuViews team looks forward producing
the same high quality magazine you’ve come
to know and love. But MORE. So look out for
more of the same, but better, in more places,
and keep your eyes peeled for changes in the
Spring edition, due out in October and the
Summer edition, set for January. Your feed-
back is, as always, invaluable so let us know
what you think.
