‘LEARNING,
IT’S WHAT
WE DO…’
A stand-out of the Talent Quest was the support of older students for
the younger ones.
Below, Saoirse Barton sings, supported by Gemma Louden.
Right, Beth Simpson sang her way to become Talent Quest winner
singing Jamie McDell’s ‘Life in Sunshine’. Principal Anna Yates
enthused, “From the moment Beth opened her mouth, she blew
everyone away”!

Nurturing a Community of Lifelong Learners
Te Rerenga is a small rural school situated on the Coromandel near
Whangapoua Beach with 3 classrooms and a school roll of 59 amazing
students that come from Coromandel Town, Te Rerenga, Whangapoua,
Kuaotunu and Whitianga.
From Principal Anna Yates...
Students from Years 6-8 have an annual trip to Hahei to snorkel and
kayak the Marine Reserve. The students had fun as they learned new
sports skills while seeing how important it is to preserve the marine
environment.
As a lasting legacy in their final year at senior, students organise a
fun event intended to bring the whole school together. In August,
Ana, Lee and Reuben provided the organisational leadership and
judging for a talent quest. They enlisted fellow Year 8 students to see
to the sound, lighting and provide hosting expertise. The audience
remarked on the confidence and abilities of all of the contestants.
