PARADISE, OPEN FOR BUSINESS
“I had always dreamed of creating a thermal
attraction that would bring both magic and
well-being into adult lives – a healing spa,
with the pacifica theme of a tropical resort.”
The final inspiration came from Maui in the
Hawaiian islands. (After living in Hawaii for 20
years, I can tell you those 5 star resorts have
nothing over Alan’s creation.)
In 2008 on 8 December, the doors of The Lost
Spring Geo-thermal Pools, Day Spa & Café
opened – a peaceful and restorative haven that
exceeded expectations. Whether you seek a
romantic getaway or need relief from arthritic
pain or sore muscles – this is the place.
Long gone are the dusty campers and
caravans. The historic Whitianga school
house was moved to the property early
on and later restored and renovated into a
stunning resort-style building. Here guests
can enjoy a delicious meal near the lagoon
and waterfalls, revel in a luxurious spa
environment or receive massage therapy in the
upscale treatment areas.
Alan points out that the café goes out of its way
to use NZ sourced products, from Macadamia
nuts to craft beers, from fine wines to produce,
seafood, and meat.
