Andy is a long way from being out of the woods with a lengthy and
difficult rehabilitation ahead of him but he has the loving support of a
wide circle of friends and neighbours.

A few excerpts from Shelley’s Facebook posts on the
Castle Rock
Café page,
always brief and almost poetic, create a graphic image of
the ordeal they have endured:
July 8.
Well today it is a week since the phone call that changed my
life Andy had one arrest this morning at 10am but was stable for
the day. He is still intubated but breathing well. Arm movements are
amazing. He is a strong determined man. Shelley
August 13, Day 45.
It is unbelievable to look at Andy now and
remember how helpless he was 45 days ago. He is doing so well.
We are both humbled by all the kind messages we received after
last nights Fair Go show.
August 18, Day 49.
I’m wondering if I should start counting down
to home coming .... thoughts? Maddie LOVED being back at pre-
school, I really enjoyed being back at school and Andy phoned
us tonight to say he had a great day. Breathe out .... So far it is all
working out

ANDY AT ‘TASTE OF MATARANGI’ COMPETITION
Shown gathering supplies in the
pantry, Andy Corles finished just
one point behind winner Luke
Reilly, owner of Luke’s Kitchen,
at the buyinglocal.co.nz Cooking
Competition during the popular
‘Taste of Matarangi’ in April.
“I had some really challenging
local ingredients to work with in my
Mystery Box”, Andy told us. “They
included salmon, hazelnut paste,
macadamia nut crumbs,
plum powder and chile.”
Event organiser Michelle Dobson
said Andy did an incredible job – his
dish both looked and tasted great.
