Thames Skatepark. There is already a decent
skatepark between Pollen & Mackay St on
SH25 near the TCDC pool, see
com/ThamesSkatepark. A new one is being
designed by Premium Skate Designs company.
This will be near the existing playground by
Goldfields Shopping Centre on Queen Street.
Whitianga

Whitianga Skate Park. This skatepark
offers the kids a fun place to enjoy skating
or scootering. Check out the new graffitti
art created by the Whitianga youth group.

Bike Park
Skill Zone 1

Whitianga Bike Park. A park with a Skill Zone,
paths, bridges, boardwalks, and challenges
for BMX bikers of all levels, created and
maintained by the Whitianga Bike Club. Offers
about 3 hours riding at various grades. Drinking
fountain and toilets available. Located on
Moewai Road, off SH25 past the airfield.
The Bike Man. Sales and rentals of bikes and
accessories. 16 Coghill Road.
Whangamata
Whangamata Skateboard Park. A complex
bowl design with many variations of dips,
levels, and rails. “Compact but well thought
out addition to the old bowl. Everything skates
pretty well and a good variety of features will
keep you happy on those flat days.” Location:
Martyn Rd off Heatherington Rd.
Tairua
The Youth Zone. See page 21.
Pauanui
Pauanui Skatepark. A concrete bowl park,
on Sheppard Ave. Located near facilities of the
Pauanui Club (a paid members club), which has
tennis courts, the bowling fields, golf and other
activities. There is also mini golf course, all
located near end of the airflield’s runway.

Coromandel Skateboard Park. A simple
half-pipe form ramp, located near the
basketball courts on Wharf Road.
