This year’s Yummy Mummy – yes,
you definitely have to be a mum –
was crowned at the annual Miss
Matarangi contest held on 11th
January.
Winner was Aileen Williams
(shown in pink) from Whangamata.
Runner up was Shone Bolton from
Howick. Sponsors of the event
were Coromandel 94 FM and
Jandy’s in Whitianga.
The competition was part of
the Miss Matarangi Beach Girls
2014 event, which has categories
such as Master Matarangi, Miss
Matarangi, Miss Teen, and of
course Yummy Mummy.

This year’s A Taste of Matarangi – the food, wine and music event
– will be held April 5 from 10am till 4:30pm. Once again, music is
featured. Lots of local vibes will be hitting the stage and a number of
‘big’ bands have been locked in to get your groovy shoes moving.”
The music lineup includess the Mauao PAC, a tribute band, world
music duo Aaron Saxon and Alicesea, and Jessica Matthews, a
‘powerhouse’ finalist in New Zealand’s X Factor 2013.
Food booths, wine, facepainting, bouncy houses, crafts booths, and
this year a helicopter flight simulator from the festival’s benificiary,
the Coromandel Rescue Helicopter Trust.
Tickets are $15 adult, $30 family (2 adult/2 children), and $5 kids.
