Tairuas Astounding Wearable Arts Show (TAWAS)
was the
culmination of weeks of creative designing and constructing, research
and development, singing and dancing, teamwork and co-operation—all
through the combined efforts of children, staff, parents/caregivers and
wider school community. TAWAS is a celebration of the arts curriculum, the
four components of dance, drama, visual art and music. Experiences like
this provide opportunities for students to learn through the many aspects
of the school’s diverse curriculum. This was a truly amazing multisensory
spectacle for all who attended. Shown in elaborate garden costumes are
Otama Roberts and Harlee van Bilsen.

Children watch in awe as butterflies feed off elevated trays of bananas.
Butterfly spotters on the bridge overlooking the pond are Kendall & Luka
Millen, Anika Cameron, Mia & Ria Panela, Pippa Prescott, Administrator Kim
Wilton, Marlon Short and Trinity Cheyne.
The day was capped off with a lovely picnic in the park, where the children
also enjoyed climbing over the play equipment. All this is made possible
from the great support received from parents and the community.
