ISSUE 6 SUMMER 2013
No description does justice to the powerful presence
of nature at Te Moata. Set in 344 hectares of
native bush just north of Tairua, this sanctuary
hosts a variety of residential retreats, community
events and workshops. A network of walking
tracks leads to streams, waterfalls, and beautiful
stands of native trees including ancient Kauri.
Experience Te Moata for yourself. Enrol in a
retreat, book a stay in one of our cottages or remote
bush huts, or schedule a casual visit.
Enjoy breathtaking views, a walk in the labyrinth
and checking out some of our tracks.

Fun on the hoof...
Riding horses on the beach is “what dreams are made of” and
no longer allowed in many places in the world. Two swimmers
admire this stunning horse and rider on Manaia Beach.

Mercury Bay.
Blokarting across Tairua Harbour at low tide can be a thrilling, hair
raising experience. For enthusiasts of the Kiwi-invented sport, the
answer to why blokarting is so exhilarating is literally ‘blowing in the
wind’. Reaching speeds of nearly 100 kph if you have the mettle,
the strength of the wind and the right angle – blokarting fans swear
by the ease and joy of the sport. And If there is no wind – you can
always play golf.
Our area hosts several courses, and it’s never too early to start.
Lance Easton is hoping to create a scratch golfer in either Lincoln or
Archer, shown putting at the Tairua Country Club.

Marlow Brown and Grace Elliot-Brown felt like they had conquered Mt. Everest
when they reached the top of Mt. Pauanui. The friends said the walk was hard but
well worth the effort. “The worst part was the millions of sandflies near the top,
Grace swallowed a couple – but I didn’t because I wrapped my hankerchief over
my mouth”, Marlow said.
