FAIR- Keltic Fair 155 Tiki Rd, Coromandel
Town, 9am-4pm. Come enjoy a full day of
yummy food, entertainment, kids rides and a
world of arts & crafts. Entry $2 pp over 5 years
old, all gate proceeds go to the Area School of
Coromandel.
TUE 3 JAN
RACES- Interislander Summer Festival
Thames Racecourse, Parawai Road. Enjoy
delicious local food & wine of and live music.
A day not to miss! Great range of activities for
the kids. Also plenty of giveaways for the adults
including the famous Thames Flounder Packs.
TUE 3 - WED 4 JAN
FAIR- Pauanui Antique Fair Pauanui Sports
Club, 31 Sheppard Ave. 10am. An array of
antiques & collectables, vintage, retro including
furniture, china, glass, silver, linen, cloths,
jewellery, curios etc. Benefits Pauanui Surf Life
Saving Club. $5, door sales only.
WED 4 JAN
EXPO- The Great Outdoor Expo
Pauanui Beach, 9am-4pm. Check out
exhibits and browse pop-up stores promoting
products and services relating to marine;
sport; leisure activities and outdoor
environments. Food, drink and children’s
amusements also available. (See p42)
GALA- Cooks Beach Summer Gala Central
Reserve, Cooks Beach, 9am-4pm. Over
100 stalls, games, rides, food, music, White
Elephant and the Daisy Dung Drop. Fun for
the whole family. All proceeds to Whenuakite
School.
THU 5 JAN
MARKET- Hahei Market Day Pa Road, Kotare
Domain, 9am-2pm. Come along with your
friends and family to enjoy the huge variety
of stalls with special produce, jewellery,
clothing, delicious food and NZ crafts.
FRI 6 JAN
CONCERT- Concert In The Vines Mercury
Bay Estate Vineyard, Cooks Beach, 3-9pm.
If you’re looking for a relaxing day in the sun
with a picnic and some of the Coromandel
Peninsula’s favourite wine & cuisine, don’t
miss out. Fully licensed (no BYO) with great
local food available, but feel free to bring a
picnic. $40 adults, children under 12 free.
FAIR- Waihi Beach Summer Fair Wilson
Park, Citrus Ave, Waihi Beach, 10am-4pm. $2
adult (kids 12 and under free). 150+ quality
stalls, gourmet food, fun for kids of all ages,
music and other awesome entertainment; this
event will attract the fashionista, the browser,
the quirky, the collector and the DIY home
decorator.
SAT 7 JAN
FESTIVAL- Tairua School Wine & Food
Festival Tairua School, 110 Main Road, 9am-
4pm. $15 for 18 and over, kids are free. This
is a major event for our local community and
an important fundraiser for our school. Stalls
offer delicious food and beverages including
several NZ craft selections.
CONCERT- Fly My Pretties National Tour
Coroglen Tavern, 7pm, R18. Described as a
“cosmic trip through the universe inside and
outside us – led by some of Aotearoa’s finest
musicians”, the all new show sees a 14-strong
cast take to the stage, with many special
guests. $72 at Ticketmaster.
EXHIBITION- ‘Beauty of the Beast’ by artist
Brad Novak Bread and Butter Fine Art Gallery,
26 Albert Street, Whitianga, 12 midday. An
exhibition of new works from Brad Novak
‘Beauty of the Beast’ hosted at Bread and
Butter Gallery.
SAT 7 - SUN 8 JAN
FAIR- The Extravaganza - (Gypsy)
Whangamata Area School, Port Road, 9am.
Free. The new era of Gypsy. We’re bringing
back the ‘old school’- join in sack races, tug
of wars & musical bean bags. Win prizes! Arts,
crafts and interesting market stalls, talented
musicians and shows where your kids can
shine like ‘Stars’!
FISHING- Pacific Coast Marine Top 10
Tuna Fishing Competition. Pacific Coast
Marine are sponsoring the Top 10 tuna fishing
SUN 8 JAN
CARNIVAL- Mercury Bay Seaside Carnival
2017 Buffalo Beach Reserve, Whitianga, 9am-
3pm. Over 120 stalls, rides, games and food,
raising well needed funds for Mercury Bay Area
School. Come join the fun, have breakfast,
bring your togs for a swim between shopping,
eating and the entertainment.
TUE 10 JAN
MARKET- Thames Goldrush Market Day
Come and enjoy a day in Pollen Street with
loads of stalls from local businesses and
visitors. Kids amusements, buskers and
great food.
SAT 21 JAN
EXHIBITION- Blurred Lines - Artist Jennie de
Groot, Bread & Butter Fine Art Gallery, 26 Albert
Street, Whitianga, 12 midday. “The tension
between realism and abstraction and my
interest in introducing memory and imagination
into my paintings are the ‘Blurred lines’ that I
create when representing landscape in paint.”
RACES- Harness Racing Thames Racecourse,
Parawai Road. A great family day out with large
crowds enjoying thrilling holiday racing both
in the popular ‘Infield’ and on the Grandstand
side of the track.
